A casualty on the tracks was reported to police at around 5pm yesterday (January 29).
London Ambulance Service crews also attended, however, the person was pronounced dead shortly after.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Lines between Brighton and London Victoria were closed as the incident was dealt with.
All services have since returned to normal.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to East Croydon railway station at around 5pm yesterday (29 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
