The stretch of road which runs through both the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Lewisham will see Transport for London (TfL) impose strict new rules covering where vehicles can stop and a complete ban on access to parts of the area.
The restrictions are being brought in to facilitate property development associated works in the area, according to the Public Notice Portal.
TfL has announced the measures under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, with some restrictions only in place at set times.
According to TfL, the order will largely target vehicles on specific stretches of Blackheath Hill.
These rules, however, will not apply to vehicles linked to the construction works, including emergency service vehicles.
Similarly, instructions from a uniformed police officer or an authorised TfL representative will take precedence over these restrictions.
The restrictions will come into force on December 8, 2025, at 7am on the A2 GLA Road.
The restrictions will cover three main points along Blackheath Hill.
Firstly, vehicles will be prohibited from stopping at the southern kerb-line of Blackheath Hill between its junctions with Maidenstone Hill and Hollymount Close.
Additionally, access to the Blackheath Business Estate and the access road to numbers 80 to 82 Blackheath Hill from Blackheath Hill will be restricted.
Furthermore, a ban will be placed on the right turn into the Blackheath Business Estate and the access road to numbers 80 to 82 Blackheath Hill from Blackheath Hill.
Alternative routes will be signposted, guiding traffic along Blackheath Hill, Shooters Hill Road, the roundabout at the junction of Shooters Hill Road and Prince Charles Road, and Blackheath Hill to normal route of travel.
The Order will be effective at certain times until 7pm on March 7, 2026, or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
