This year the supermarket is recruiting more than 28,500 temporary Colleagues across the UK to help customers during the busy Christmas period.
The jobs will mainly involve working in Tesco’s Superstores and Extra stores for either early morning, day or evening shifts. The pay starts from £12.64 an hour, with flexible shifts.
The link to apply for roles is here.
Ela Golab, Tesco Group People Services Director says: “We’re excited to be recruiting festive colleagues to help make it a season to remember for our customers.
“With the busy Christmas period ahead, we are looking for people who can bring warmth, enthusiasm and a helpful service to every shopping trip.
“The jobs will range from serving customers and stocking shelves, to picking orders for home delivery.
“No day is ever the same, and festive colleagues will be able to feel the impact they make on every shift, as they send customers home with a smile. What’s more, no experience is necessary – just the right attitude.”
One person, who did just that recently is Fresh Food Team Manager Emma Richardson Brown, who works at Tesco’s Gainsborough store in Lincolnshire.
In November 2023, Emma began working as a festive Colleague in the frozen food department at her local Gainsborough store.
Emma wanted to further her career with Tesco and when the role of a Shift Leader came up in January 2024, she applied and was successful.
In February 2025 she signed onto an options management scheme and started a team manager placement. Since then Emma has worked her way up the ladder to become fresh food team manager at the store.

Emma says: “I love working for Tesco, as every day is different with a new set of challenges. It’s great to work as part of a fantastic team and there’s a culture, mainly driven by our store manager, Richard.
“You can be yourself and bring your own personality to work and have a bit of fun.
“Throughout my journey I have had fantastic support from everybody in the store team and would recommend to anybody that wants to progress within Tesco to set your goals high and your hard work and dedication will be rewarded. Good luck to everybody applying.”
