Taproom, in Sunnyside Gardens, has been a staple for cask ale enthusiasts since it opened as the Upminster Taproom Micropub almost seven years ago.
Owners Jack Barwick and Jordan Jiggins say the pub is best known in the area for its high table and chairs and “traditional beer making memorabilia”.
While Taproom already packs in “quirky character” and a “wide variety of drinks” into its modest space, it has big plans for the future.
Owners Jack and Jordan said: “We’re looking to expand and do another venue in Essex, focusing on live music in particular.
“We’re also looking to bring our own beer out soon.”
The pair – who have known each other for almost 18 years – took over the pub in 2022, shortening its name to Taproom and adding “more modern themes and products”.
Jack and Jordan have also run their parent company and mobile bar service, After VI, for six years.

It’s with the help of their “amazing staff” that they run quiz nights, live music and tasting evenings at the Taproom – and a collaboration with another Upminster business, Whole Slice, provides pizza for the pub from Wednesday to Sunday.
But, they say, it is “100 per cent because of the table service” that customers return.
Jack and Jordan told the Recorder: “There is no walk up bar so customers get to take a seat and we bring the menu and drinks to them.
“Because of this we have been able to build a really relaxed, welcoming atmosphere to the place, guests feel appreciated and looked after.
“The aim of the Taproom is to create a welcoming atmosphere for people to socialise in or find some solitude after a busy day or week at work.
“We love putting on events from live music to themed weekends, and in general, just having a good time.”
The Taproom was named as the best pub in Havering by Romford Recorder readers in April last year.
