Data from On Time Trains has revealed how many stations across the UK were used, based on data on the average number of passengers who enter and exit the station every day.
We surveyed the data of Sutton’s nine train stations, managed by Southern, to find out which stations were the most and least used in 2024.
According to data, Sutton station was the most used station in the borough, with an average of 12,305 visits a day in 2024.
Overall, Sutton station was ranked to be the 628th best out of 2,639 stations across the UK, with an 88 per cent performance score.
Last year, 64 per cent of trains were recorded to be on time, with five per cent of trains late by two minutes or more and five per cent cancelled.
Sutton station serves as a key transport hub in South London, providing connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, and St Albans.
By contrast, Sutton’s least used train station of 2024 was Belmont, which had an average of 489 visitors a day last year.
Belmont station is served by Southern trains, and passengers can travel to London Victoria from the station.
The station has a 94 per cent performance score.
In 2024, 48 per cent of its trains were on time, with 16 per cent delayed by 1-2 minutes and one per cent delayed by 10 minutes or more.
