The works will affect the section between Malden Road and Church Hill Road.
Sutton Council has said that the restrictions may be in place for up to three weeks from July 21.
During that time, no vehicles (including bikes) will be allowed through while the closure is in place.
Diversions will send traffic around via either:
- Malden Road, Lumley Road, St Dunstans Hill and Church Hill Road; or
- Malden Road, Priory Road and Church Hill Road.
Access will still be given to homes along the closed section, as long as it’s safe to do so without getting in the way of the work.
Although the closure is only planned for a few weeks, the order allows the council to bring it back within the next 18 months if more work is needed.
