A section of Beresford Road will be closed to traffic from Monday, June 16, for gas mains replacement work.
The closure will affect the stretch between Mulgrave Road and Hillside Road.
The work is expected to take about three weeks, though the order allows the closure to be brought back at any time over the next 18 months if needed.
While the closure is in place, no vehicles, including bicycles, will be allowed to enter, exit, stop or travel through the area.
Signed diversions will take drivers along either Station Way, High Street, Cheam Road, York Road and Mulgrave Road, or via Belmont Rise, Northey Avenue, Burdon Lane and Sandy Lane.
Access to properties will be maintained where possible, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the works.
The restrictions will only apply while traffic signs are in place.
