A dog owner says she has been left traumatised after her dog was thrashed around “like a rag doll” by a larger dog in Harold Hill.
Ashleigh, who wishes to keep her surname anonymous, said she was walking her “small” dog along Straight Road last Wednesday (April 2) around 7.10am.
According to Ashleigh, a large dog “appeared out of nowhere” in the road.
“Out of human instinct, I raised my hand and shouted at the traffic to stop,” said Ashleigh.

“The dog then turned around, saw my dog and clamped on to him – he was screaming, I was screaming, and the dog was shaking mine around like a rag doll.
“Initially, nobody helped as I think they were scared of the dog but after a while, a man walked towards it and it let go of my dog – it soon tried to come back so I booted it.
“The dog ran back across the road and some man opened his car door and grabbed it by the collar.”
Injuries sustained by Ashleigh’s dog (Image: Ashleigh) Ashleigh said that she has watched back CCTV footage and is unsure of the breed of dog but claimed “it’s so big, it looks like a deer”.
The dog was collected by its owner after a post was made on Facebook and according to Ashleigh, someone had passed her number on to the owner.
“I went straight to the emergency vets – my dog’s wounds were really severe,” she said.
Ashleigh claimed the dog’s owners initially agreed to pay her vet bills but has since retreated on the offer.
“I’m up to my eyeballs in debt and I’m now having to take out another vet bill because some owners haven’t taken responsibility for their dog – it’s disgusting.
“It has been traumatic – the whole process has been so stressful.”
A Met Police spokesperson said its officers were investigating the incident.
“Officers attended the scene at Straight Road where a woman in her 30s alleged her dog had been attacked by another dog on Wednesday, April 2.
“One dog received minor injuries as part of the attack and is due to receive treatment.
“Officers identified the owner of the other dog and mediated a civil dispute between both owners.
