The Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow and ice across the UK, which the National Rail expects will impact multiple train operators.
While the warning itself does not cover London specifically, it does include surrounding areas.
As a result, trains including the Southwestern Railway, London Northwestern and Eurostar will face service changes due to the severe weather.
Here is what to expect:
South Western Railway
Trains across the South Western will be impacted from tonight, with many expected to be delayed, cancelled or altered.
The following trains have already been cancelled:
- 19:20 Weymouth to London Waterloo
- 21:35 London Waterloo to Weymouth
- 22:18 Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier
- 22:35 London Waterloo to Poole
- 22:36 Lymington Pier to Brockenhurst
- 23:32 London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour
- 23:36 London Waterloo to Bournemouth
London Northwestern Railway
A reduced timetable will be in place on several routes to ensure the safety of passengers, the National Rail has said.
This will come into effect from 7pm today (January 8).
No further information has been shared about this time about the reduced service.
Avanti West Coast
Avanti will be running fewer trains on some of their routes from as early as 3pm.
Commuters are recommended to travel earlier in the day if they can before this time.
Eurostar
The National Rail says that trains are likely to be subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations.
Although specific examples have not been provided, it is recommended that anyone planning to use the Eurostar should monitor Eurostar.com for updates.
