At around 8.20am on November 3, 2023 Essex Police was called to Stock Road in the village of Stock.
It was reported a vehicle crashed into two children and 15-year-old Freddie Coleman died at the scene.
A second teenager suffered serious injuries.
A man was arrested following the crash and released on bail as the investigation went on.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit continued its enquiries.
Essex Police has today (November 7) confirmed that after submitting a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, charges have been brought against Stephen Mahebadevan, 25, of Orford Crescent, Chelmsford.
He is charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday November 28.
