The plans have been put forward by the London Borough of Ealing to power the Steyne Estate project in Acton (planning ref. 223203FUL).
The substation would be built east of Moreton Tower, between Lexden Road and Steyne Road, on the Steyne Estate.
The latest application proposes a single-storey substation and low-voltage intake building, along with changes to car parking, maintenance access and landscaping.
The site currently consists of hard and soft landscaping and is otherwise vacant.
Construction of the substation is estimated to cost up to £2 million.
Works are scheduled to begin in March 2026 and finish by October 2026, if planning consent is granted.
The substation building would reach a height of 3.38 metres and feature brown and blue brickwork, concrete copings and steel louvred doors.
Additional proposals include ventilation grills, rainwater goods and a concrete roof.
According to planning documents, nearby trees and hedges have been identified and several biodiversity assessments have been provided, including habitat baseline and proposed tree maps.
The scheme does not involve the loss or gain of residential units or require public road alterations.
Pre-application advice was received from Ealing Council in August 2025 recommending the submission of a full planning application.
The substation is one of two proposed for the Steyne Estate project.
A public consultation on the substation application is open until Friday, January 30, 2026.
