Adam Baillie, 39, of Spring Way, Harrow was sentenced following a trial at Harrow Crown Court.
During the trial, the court heard how the 39-year-old kidnapped an eleven-year-old girl as she was making her way home from her primary school on April 19 last year.
He took her to his home where he carried out a serious sexual assault.
The child, who was not known to him, was able to flee and neighbours alerted police to the incident.
Baillie was arrested after the victim was able to identify the property to police.
The 39-year-old was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of ten years, for the kidnap and sexual assault.
He was also convicted of actual bodily harm.
PC Georgia Devaney-Brighton said: “Today we achieved justice for this courageous girl and I hope the severity of the sentence can provide some comfort to her and her family.
