Southeastern services faced major disruptions yesterday (October 20) after the casualty on the tracks at a level crossing in Maidstone.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.20pm and the person was pronounced dead.
Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing, the British Transport Police said.
Trains operating between Strood and Paddock Wood were being cancelled or revised, with severe delays between both stations as well as Maidstone West.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said; “Officers were called at around 1.20pm today (20 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at a level crossing in Maidstone.
“Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.”
