Plans for the site, located at the old Monorep car showroom on Poplar Avenue in Southall, are part of a broader proposal that includes community facilities and external landscaping improvements.
The application, submitted by the Guru Nanak Society of London Trust, is currently under consideration by Ealing Council and remains at the consultation stage.
The planning application also covers physical alterations to the building’s facades, the installation of external equipment and changes to surrounding landscaping.
According to planning documents, the submission is a “part-retrospective change of use from the existing car showroom and MOT garage into a place of worship (Class F1), community facilities and associated outdoor advertisement.”
Consultation will remain open until Wednesday, January 21 2026, giving the public time to comment on the proposals.
If approved, the site would serve as a religious and cultural centre, offering worship space and a range of community services.
The proposal is partly retrospective, with some work on the site having begun in April 2022.
However, the development has not yet been completed.
If the plans are approved in their current form, the site would be officially converted into a religious and community centre under planning rules, replacing its previous commercial use.
