The Body Shop International Ltd made national headlines on February 13 last year, after it announced that it had begun the administration process.
In the following week seven branches were closed, with a further 75 planned for phased closure.
One of those that shut was the Romford branch at 46 South Street.
In a recent visit into the town centre to check on the health of the high street, we noticed that the former The Body Shop store has remained empty.
There is little to point to its previous inhabitant, bar the green paint, small logos on the windows of the shop front and a notice stating “shutting up shop”.
The retail unit has yet to be replaced (Image: Newsquest) Another printed sign was still being displayed in the store, reading “closing at 4pm today”.

It is understood that the branch was closed on March 8 this year, with the last activity on the The Body Shop Romford’s Facebook account on March 4.
Above the shop details for estate agent Andrew Caplin Commercial have been advertised, revealing that the unit is available to let.
The Body Shop International Ltd was bought out of administration in September 2024 by a consortium headed by the Auréa Group.
