The Manse Residential Care Home in South Norwood, run by Sanctuary Care, was praised by inspectors for its “homely, open and inclusive culture,” with one resident telling inspectors: “I love it here.”
The CQC report highlighted the sense of safety, comfort, and happiness among residents, noting they felt well cared for by staff who treated them with “kindness and respect.”
Nitin Paupiah, home manager, said: “We are so proud of our report, which is a testament to the fantastic team we have here at The Manse, and their dedication to enriching the lives of our residents.
“I am delighted that the report highlights our unwavering commitment to supporting our residents’ independence, which is something we are devoted to here – this is our residents’ home, and they have a very active role in how it is run.”
He shared examples of residents who take part in running clubs and activities, including gardening and book clubs, helping them share lifelong skills and keep their passions alive.
The report also praised the home’s leadership, with feedback describing it as “very well managed,” and noted the positive atmosphere among staff.
The report said: “Staff encouraged people to do as much as they could for themselves, promoting their confidence and independence with the activities of daily living.”
It also highlighted staff’s positive interactions with residents and their commitment to listening and including them in daily life.
The CQC found the service was managed well and that staff were valued and supported.
The report said: “There was a culture of learning, inclusivity and partnership working at the service, focused on supporting people to achieve positive outcomes.”
