Danish lifestyle brand Søstrene Grene is set to open its latest UK store at Angel Central in Islington, introducing its calming, Scandinavian-inspired shopping experience to one of North London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
The shop, which marks the start of the company’s UK expansion for 2026, will offer homewares, kitchen essentials, craft supplies, soft furnishings, and seasonal décor—all curated to add a touch of simple, stylish living to everyday routines.
Mikkel Grene, group CEO and co-owner of Søstrene Grene, said: “We’re excited to bring Søstrene Grene to Islington and to open our first UK store of the year.
“Every store is designed to be a place where people can discover thoughtfully designed homewares, find inspiration and enjoy a calm, creative shopping experience.
“This opening reflects our commitment to making beautiful, accessible products part of everyday life and we look forward to welcoming the local community.”
Søstrene Grene stores are known for their distinctive atmosphere, characterised by soft lighting, classical music, and Søstrene Grene’s signature winding layout.
The design is inspired by the Danish concept of hygge— offering a moment of escape and creativity.
With more than 380 stores across 17 markets, the brand is planning significant growth in the UK, aiming to open 100 new locations by the end of 2027.
Norma Jacob and Richard Power, Søstrene Grene’s UK partners, operate stores throughout Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and the South of England.
Ms Jacob said: “With its creative energy and strong sense of community, Islington feels like the perfect place for our next store.
“The store has been designed to create a calm, inspiring space where customers can explore our collections, find fresh ideas for their homes and experience the joy of simple, thoughtful design in their everyday life.”
Mr Power reflected on the brand’s recent growth.
He said: “2025 was a remarkable year for Søstrene Grene in the UK, as we reached new areas and welcomed so many customers to our stores.
“Kicking off 2026 in Islington is a fantastic way to continue that momentum and we’re looking forward to sharing our Scandinavian approach to homewares with even more communities this year.”
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be confirmed soon.
