Havering Council has proposed introducing a new Copenhagen-style crossing in Simpson Road, close to its junction with Mungo Park Road.
These crossings continue the pavement across the road to make it clear that pedestrians have priority, and are designed to slow drivers down and encourage them to give way.

The council said its aim with the scheme is to “improve safety and accessibility” for those walking, particularly school pupils, the elderly and less able residents.
The proposed crossing site is near to Scargill Infant and Junior Schools.
The authority hopes the crossing will reduce the risk of accidents and create a “safer, more predictable environment” for all road users.
In a letter to residents, the council said: “Copenhagen-style crossings improve pedestrian safety by continuing the pavement across side road junctions, making it clear that people walking have priority.
“The raised, pavement-level design slows down traffic and gives clear priority to those crossing, making it easier and safer for everyone to travel independently and confidently.”
A consultation has been launched, with residents encouraged to share their views until November 26.
The council will make changes to the scheme based upon the consultation responses where feasible.
