Residents shared their alarm on social media after seeing a heavy police presence around Blackfen Road yesterday (July 16).
One person reported seeing police in balaclavas near the Jolly Fenman pub.
Met Police has clarified that officers were not responding to an incident but carrying out a pre-planned firearms operation.
It added that no shots were fired and all emergency services were later stood down.
Met Police has been asked for further details of the operation and if any arrests were made.
