The change is planned for Shish Meze, which opened in Berther Road in 2013.
An application was entered to Havering Council in November seeking permission for a “front conservatory extension together with the removal of existing signs”.
According to a design and access statement accompanying the proposal, the plans have already gone through pre-application advice and have been refined to address concerns raised in these sessions.
Shish Meze has an existing open-air dining space to the front of its premises, directly next to the footpath.
The planned “lightweight, aluminium-framed glazed front conservatory” would enclose this area.
A summary of the plans state that, if approved, the conservatory extension would “provide year-round, climate controlled dining space” and “reduce noise spill from open seating areas”, improving its “environmental performance and neighbour amenity”.
Existing signage on the restaurant’s front elevation and forecourt would be removed to “ensure a cleaner, more refined street appearance”, replaced by “one small, discrete sign”.
If approved, the extension would result in the overall loss of two on-site parking spaces.
However, documents have revealed that a lease has been secured for seven customer-only parking bays nearby in Butts Green Road, and twelve new cycle parking spaces.
A decision is set to be made by February 10.
