Shire Lane closed last night (March 12) and will close again tonight as extensive work is carried out.
Shire Lane has garnered attention for being a narrow road “riddled with potholes” that has forced more than 60 drivers to a local repair shop.
The road also closed in the February half term for gas main replacements.
Bromley is the largest borough in London, with over 550 miles of road, which is equal to the distance from Bromley to Zurich. Is this relevant?
Bromley Council has a planned programme of resurfacing roads as well as an active pothole repair process.
Road issues can be reported on the Bromley Council website.
Councillor Nicholas Bennett, Executive Councillor for Transport, Highways and Road Safety, said: “Road safety is important, and we have made considerable progress in recent months to repair potholes as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“We are aware that there are a number of outstanding repairs needed in Shire Lane, which, given the width of the road, for safety reasons, the road will need to be closed to allow these repairs to take place.
“As local residents will already know, Shire Lane will be closed at night on Thursday, 13 March, when all outstanding works will be complete.”
