Officers from the Metropolitan Police were dispatched to Sheringham Avenue at 3.57am on September 8 after being alerted to an incident.
A large scene was put in place, encompassing neighbouring streets Romford Road and Little Ilford Lane.
A 62-year-old man was found suffering stab wounds in a property and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Six men, all aged between 22 and 57, were arrested at a nearby address but have all since been bailed pending further enquiries.
An update provided by the Met today (September 12) has revealed the victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
