Emergency services have been called to Seven Sisters Road, near the junction of Holloway Road, today (February 27) at 11.35pm.
At the scene, a man believed to be in his 70s was taken to hospital.
He remains there in a critical condition and his next of kin have been informed, the Metropolitan Police said.
Three teenage girls – aged 14, 16 and 17 – were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and all remain in custody.
The Met says that enquires into the circumstances are ongoing.
This morning (February 28) a cordon was in place near to the Nationwide branch in Seven Sisters Road, with officers at the scene.
A short distance away, a separate cordon was in place today at Holloway Road near the Moonlight Supermarket, with several police cars and ambulances at the scene.
