Police were called to reports of a car hitting a pedestrian on Salmon Lane on Saturday (January 4) at 2.45pm.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, and police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the driver initially did not stop after the incident.
However officers later arrested the person believed to be the driver, on suspicion of drink driving.
A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at about 14:45hrs on Saturday, 4 January to reports of a car in collision with a pedestrian on Salmon Lane, E14.
“Officers attended. The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“The driver failed to stop at the scene but was arrested nearby on suspicion of drink drive.”
