Angelina Theophanous, 20, from North Finchley, was named Apprentice of the Year at the inaugural Heart of Royal Mail Awards.
The awards received more than 7,500 nominations from Royal Mail employees across the country, with Angelina one of six nominees in her category.
The HR degree apprentice was nominated by her colleagues, who recognised her “exceptional drive to learn and develop” and her commitment to applying her learning to make a significant impact on the business.
Angelina was ultimately chosen as the winner by a panel of judges comprising senior representatives from across Royal Mail.
She said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic to win this award.
“It was so unexpected, but I really do appreciate everyone who nominated me.
“It feels amazing to be nominated for all the hard work I’ve been doing since joining Royal Mail just over a year and a half ago.
“It’s truly incredible.”
James Crichton, Royal Mail’s talent manager, said: “Angelina received three nominations for this award, in recognition of her exceptional drive to learn and develop and consistently applying her learning to create meaningful impact across the business.
“From leading key projects to driving transformation in recruitment, all while sharing her knowledge to inspire and support others in the process.”
The Heart of Royal Mail Awards celebrate individuals who go above and beyond in their roles, demonstrating dedication, innovation, and a positive impact on the company and the communities they serve.
All 130,000 Royal Mail employees are eligible to be nominated.
Apprenticeships are a key part of Royal Mail’s workforce strategy, offering roles for school leavers and degree apprenticeships for those seeking academic and practical experience.
Angelina’s work involves three rotations across HR while she studies towards a degree in applied business management.
She has led the development of a new workplace adjustments procedure and supported the project management of a major recruitment transformation.
She said: “Since the launch of the new platforms, I’ve been working in frontline recruitment, helping to attract and hire for some of our busiest roles, like posties.”
