The Metropolitan Police was alerted to reports of an injured person in Romford Road at 3.23pm on September 6.
Officers were dispatched to the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, where a woman in her 40s was found suffering potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries.
She was taken to hospital where she continues to receive medical treatment.
Police have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of false imprisonment, grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.
He remains in custody whilst enquiries continue.
A Met spokesperson said: “At 15:23hrs on Saturday, 6 September officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of an injured person on the road on Romford Road, Newham E7.
“A woman in her 40s was found at the scene with potentially life-changing and life-threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital and continues to receive medical treatment.
“A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and false imprisonment. He remains in police custody.
“An investigation has been launched and enquiries continue.”

Newham Council warned road users of a “serious road traffic incident” that had closed the road in both directions.
