Andrew Rosindell said he will write to Havering Council to ask that no Union Jack, Cross of St George or Essex flag will be taken down.
It comes after a reported rise in the flying of flags across the country in recent weeks.
It has caused some controversy, with council workers in Tower Hamlets seen taking some down and some finding the flags intimidating, the BBC reported.
Mr Rosindell, chair of the flags and heraldry committee in parliament, said: “Our national flags are symbols of the unity of our island nation and the millennia of our history.
“They belong to every citizen of this country and should be flown freely and without interference.”
He has also given his support to Flag Force UK’s campaign encouraging people to put up national, country and county flags across the UK.
It describes itself as “the UK’s premier community network tracking flag raisings across the nation”.
Mr Rosindell said: “I call upon residents of every street in every part of Romford and Havering to display our national flags throughout our neighbourhoods, a sea of red, white, and blue across our town will give us all something to be proud of.”
