Daniel Peasnell, 33, of Richmond Road, was accused of biting the finger of Stephen Dixon at an event held at The Perch pub in Binsey near Oxford, on May 20, 2023.
Peasnell was jailed for five years at Oxford Crown Court on December 18 for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and using threatening language.
He was found guilty by a jury in November.
The court heard that the wedding was that of Peter Green, who was Mr Dixon’s nephew and Peasnell’s best friend.

Giving evidence during the trial, Mr Dixon said: “I could hear a fracas, something happening.
“I heard shouting and swearing at first. I heard the impact of a punch or a slap, but I couldn’t see it.
“I heard someone shout ‘who f****** wants it?’. It was Daniel’s voice.”
On the subsequent fight involving Peasnell and Mr Green, he said: “I jumped in to stop it. I took him to the ground.
“As I went to move, I felt him biting on my finger. He started chewing on my finger.
“It was agonising pain, I was screaming. I was then taken back to the bar and the staff dressed my fingers.
“There was a piece of my finger missing.”

A victim personal statement was read out at the sentencing by prosecution barrister David Jones.
In the statement, Mr Dixon said he’s suffered from anxiety, stress and depression after the incident and that it had impacted him at work and in his hobby of playing the drums.
The court heard Mr Green had described Peasnell as behaving like a ‘wild animal’.
When Peasnell went to hospital after the incident, he told a police officer: “Get off my arm or I’ll bite your f****** nose off.”
Jonathan Coode, mitigating, said: “He is ashamed, he had a skin full.
“There is sincere remorse.”
Mr Coode told the court there were a number of character references, included from his former partner Laura McManus who he had an argument with at the wedding and reportedly punched.
In his interview with the probation service, Peasnell said: “It destroys me inside to think of what I have done.
“I never intended to hurt Mr Dixon in the way I did. I have let so many people down.”
Judge Ian Pringle KC said: “It was the day one of your lifelong friends got married. The wedding was described as a tremendous success.
“Heavily you drank on the day. You got into an argument with your then girlfriend. Such was your behaviour that you were ejected from the wedding.”
The Judge added that Peasnell insisted on speaking to the groom Mr Green, who described his behaviour as that of a ‘wild animal’.
After the subsequent fight, Peasnell bit Mr Dixon’s finger.
The Judge said: “The pain must have been excruciating.
“I’m satisfied you would never have behaved in that way if you had been sober.”
Peasnell was handed a five-year prison sentence.
