Christopher Keeble, 47, made the threats on February 16 this year.
Court documents state that the threats were made in a domestic setting and in the presence of a child.
Keeble, of Lower Bedfords Road, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court three days after the incident.
He pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and damaging the same woman’s door.
On Monday (March 17) he returned to the same court where he was sentenced to seven months in prison.
Magistrates noted that due to the seriousness of the incident only a prison sentence could be justified.
A restraining order was also made preventing Keeble from contacting the woman for four years.
