Robertson’s Fishing Tackle, in Oxlow Lane, will close on Saturday (December 6) after “increasing pressures” on the business and a “sudden family bereavement”.
The shop, which was founded in 1938 and moved to Dagenham in 2002, announced its closure “with great sadness” in a statement on Facebook.
The post said: “We’ve come to the end of the line.
“Please accept my apologies for the sudden closure, this is due to increasing pressures on the business and sudden family bereavement.
“Robbos farewell will be on December 6 so make sure you come down for one last cuppa and chin wag.”

Owner Sam Dear said the final day of trading on Saturday will feature closing down sales, as well as a mini Christmas market featuring craft items made by people in the area.

Sam encouraged customers to visit and spend any leftover vouchers before the store shuts.
He told the Post: “It’s one last goodbye from Robbos, but it’s going to be a tough one.
“It’s all come to an end.
“Since I decided [to shut] I’ve had loads of support from different customers and friends.
“We’ve got a really good community and that’s going to be the hardest thing to say goodbye to because I’m not going to be seeing it every day.”
