The Metropolitan Police were called just before 11am yesterday (January 11) to reports of a critical incident in Richmond Road, Beddington.
They were joined by medics from the London Ambulance Service who treated a 13-year-old girl believed to be suffering a cardiac arrest.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police are investigating following the death of a teenage girl in Croydon earlier today.
“Police were called at 10:51hrs on Saturday, 11 January to reports of a critical incident in Beddington.
“Officers joined London Ambulance Service at the scene on Richmond Road, where medics treated a 13-year-old girl who was believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the girl was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“The investigation continues.”
