The Times recently named Richmond in south west London as number one on a list of England’s best places to live, alongside Sutton and Merton further down the rankings.
The list was created based on data such as the number of Ofsted ratings, local crime rates, the number of listed properties and Green Flag spaces in each area.
Richmond was named as the overall winner for its local schools and green spaces.
According to data gathered by The Times, Richmond received an 80 percent GP satisfaction score along with 33 percent of schools being rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
The borough has 12 outstanding schools, with eight of them being primary schools, along with two secondary schools and a further two independent schools.
Among some of the top-rated schools were Deer Park School and Grey Court School.
Richmond is well known for being one of south London’s most expensive places to live, with the average house price costing an eye-watering £748,000.
Located in London’s Zone Six, Richmond has that unique mix of having a countryside look and feel for anyone vying for a quieter lifestyle, whilst still being just 30 minutes away from the city centre.
Richmond is accessible by train from Richmond Station, with travel links via South Western Railway, Tube and London Overground services.
But if you’re looking for a more scenic way to travel, you can also travel as far as Hampton Court by boat from Richmond St Helena Pier, or Westminster from Richmond Landing Stage pier.
Richmond is also known for its popular deer park spanning 2,500 acres and home to over 650 roaming deer.
The park is a popular place to walk in all seasons, as well as having plenty of places to picnic during the summer months.
But aside from Richmond Park, Richmond also boasts 22 Green Flag spaces across the borough, including Richmond Green and East Sheen Common.
The area is also within easy reach of many of London’s most popular attractions from Kew Gardens to Hampton Court, former residence of Henry VIII, which recently appeared in the popular Netflix series Queen Charlotte.
