The by-election for two seats representing Buckhurst Hill West Ward followed the death of Alan Weinberg in June and the resignation of Alexia Sparrow in July.
Held on Thursday, October 16, around 1,516 residents cast their ballots from an electorate of 5,196, a turnout of 29.18 per cent.
Reform UK’s Kieran Emery secured 493 votes, Natalie Wilding Barrett, also from Reform UK, won 483 votes.
Both were declared winners following the count.
The Conservative Party, represented by Colette Fox and Selina Seesunkur, was beaten into second and fourth place with 417 and 351 votes, respectively.
The Green Party candidates, Kathryn Radley and Joanna Garbaty, secured 355 and 327 votes respectively.
Independent candidates Casta Littlewood, Lyubka Mihailova, and Malachi Fontenelle received 187, 70, and 63 votes respectively, while Rahim Hussein from the Liberal Democrats polled 180 votes.
A total of three ballot papers were rejected, with one paper marked for more candidates than the voter was entitled to, and two unmarked or wholly void for uncertainty.
