Police were called to Redcar Road following concerns for the welfare of a man just before 2.20pm yesterday (January 15).
Specialist negotiators attended and engaged with the man in his 50s who was inside a residential property.
The man exited the property at around 5.40pm and was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and making/possessing items to create explosives.
He has been taken into custody where he remains.
Officers are continuing to search the property but no viable devices have been found.
Police say they are satisfied there is no immediate threat to the public and confirmed the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
Enquiries are ongoing.
