The figures were released by the Department for Education and detailed schools’ performances across the 2024/25 GCSEs.
We looked at how Redbridge’s government funded schools were ranked and asked each of the top seven to comment on their achievements.
Schools were ranked on their Attainment 8 score which is based on how well pupils have performed in up to eight qualifications including English, maths, three English Baccalaureat qualifications including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and three additional approved qualifications.

The percentage of pupils who achieved grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs was also documented.
Redbridge’s top performing school in the latest GCSEs was Woodford County High School in High Road, Woodford Green with an Attainment 8 score of 79.9.
It also had the highest percentage of pupils achieving grade 5 or above in English and maths with 98.9 per cent.
Headteacher Gemma Van Praagh told this paper: “I could not be prouder of our students and staff.
“The hard work, commitment, and persistence it takes from both pupils and staff to achieve such outstanding results is truly remarkable.

“Their personal development over their years at Woodford has been inspiring, and I am confident they will use these results as keys to the next steps on their wider learning journey, becoming positive global citizens who make a meaningful mark on the world.”
Valentines High School in Cranbrook Road, Ilford had the third highest Attainment 8 score with 58.5 and 75.3pc of pupils achieving grade 5 or above in English and maths.
“These results truly highlight the dedication and teamwork shown by our students, staff, and parents,” headteacher Richard Laws said.

“Their commitment has been remarkable, and it’s wonderful to see that recognised in these outcomes.
“Every student has worked hard to reach their potential, supported by dedicated staff who go above and beyond to provide guidance, encouragement, and high-quality teaching.
“We are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved and look forward to building on this success in the years to come.”

Trinity Catholic High School in Mornington Road, Woodford Green scored 56.2 in Attainment 8 and 64.7pc of pupils achieved grade 5 or higher in English and maths.
A spokesperson said they were “delighted” with the results and they recognise the “commitment and achievements” of students and “dedication” of teachers.
The other schools did not respond to requests for comment.
