Joshua Erorh, who releases music under the name Lil MDot, stabbed Ahmed Torfi in the heart in New Cross Road in March 2020 – Ahmed survived albeit with serious injuries.
A court heard that the violence took place against a background of gang hostilities between ‘Ghetto Boys’, who Erorh was associated with, and rivals ‘Monson’.
Erorh, who was 17 at the time, stood trial for wounding with intent but a jury rejected his defence that the stab wounds were inadvertently caused during a fight started by Ahmed.
He was sentenced to 14 years in prison in November 2020.
In June 2021, Ahmed then died aged 21 as a result of the injuries inflicted by Erorh.
Ahmed, who worked as a steward at events including football matches and concerts, was described by his family as an “amazing guy” who was “beautiful and loved”.

Erorh then faced further charges of murder and manslaughter in October 2024. He again told the jury that Ahmed had brought the knife to the scene and had attacked him with it, but that during a scuffle he had inadvertently stabbed him with that knife.
A member of the public who had not given evidence during the first trial testified that he had seen a black man (presumed to be Erorh) stumble out of a takeaway restaurant backwards being attacked by two men of Turkish appearance (presumed to be Ahmed and his brother Ali).
The second jury acquitted Erorh of both murder and manslaughter.
As a result of that verdict, Erorh’s conviction for wounding with intent was sent to the Court of Appeal where that conviction was quashed in November 2025.
During the hearing the prosecution confirmed it would not seek a retrial.
Earlier this month videos were shared online of Erorh being released from prison after years behind bars.
