Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has launched a reimagined version of Jack and the Beanstalk.
The classic fairytale has been brought to life with a local twist and the theatre promises magic, laughter, and original songs.
The story follows Jack and his mother as they struggle to keep their family-run dairy business afloat.
With bills mounting and time running out, their only hope is to sell their beloved cow, Pat, at Romford Market.
But when Jack exchanges Pat for a handful of mysterious beans, an adventure begins.
Kate Lovell, who directed and co-wrote the show alongside James Watson, said: “Jack and the Beanstalk at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is everything you know and love about this classic fairytale but deeply rooted in our theatre’s community, putting Hornchurch at the heart of the originally written script.
“Actor-musicianship is celebrated and embedded in the storyline, in the hope we can inspire children and young people coming to the theatre for the first time that music is for everyone.”
As the beans sprout, Jack finds himself climbing to the magical world of Cloudland, where he must summon the courage to outsmart a ferocious giant and save Hornchurch from danger.
Jack and the Beanstalk runs from November 19 to January 3.
The show is suitable for all ages, the theatre says, with a running time of 130 minutes including an interval.
