There were live bands, DJs, cut price food and drink, and a “very strong attempt to literally drink the bar dry” before The Salusbury in Queen’s Park shut its doors until the end of May.
Posting on Instagram, the pub’s owners said: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came down to our four day Goodbye weekender over the Easter holiday. It was a fitting send-off for The Salusbury as we know it.
“As we go along with creating The Salusbury 2.0, we’ll be sharing updates and behind the scenes glimpses of what is being built. We can’t wait to welcome you back to experience the pub and restaurant in its new era.”
In a previous post, bosses revealed that the pub in Salusbury Road will be getting both a renovation and a new menu – including no longer serving its popular pizzas.
According to the Camra website the independent pub was under the same management since 1999 and grew a reputation as a friendly neighbourhood local.
While the pub is shut, they are extending the outdoor terrace at the adjoining Salusbury Wine Store, serving a selection of wines, beers and charcuterie boards.
In the meantime fans of the pub can sign up for updates via Facebook and Instagram.
