Padel is said to be one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
It blends aspects of tennis and squash, usually played in doubles on a smaller, enclosed court with walls that are part of the game.
Players aim the ball over the net using the walls as strategy, with scoring similar to tennis.
Numbers of players have doubled around the country to 200,000 in the past year, according to the Lawn Tennis Association.
The Romford padel courts at the playing fields in Eastern Avenue, near Mawney Roundabout, open early in September, for beginners and well-seasoned players to book 60 or 90-minute sessions.
