This week, Poundland announced it would be closing seven of its stores by the end of January 2026.
One of these stores is the Mitcham store on Majestic Way, which will close its doors for good on January 14, 2026.
The clearance sale will offer reductions of up to 40 per cent, with items marked down in price until they’re sold.
The closing sales cover all the stock in each store, from homewares to groceries, and from clothing to health and beauty.
In September, Poundland finished its plan to close 68 stores.
By September 28, 57 stores had shut, while 11 closures were put on hold.
Poundland plans to keep about 650–700 stores, down from around 800 at the start of its restructuring.
Current clearance sales are at sites where leases are ending, as the company focuses on its best-performing locations to protect jobs and stores.
Poundland’s UK country manager, Darren MacDonald, said: “We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers.
“The special reductions, on top of the value we provide in every store, will help us leave locations we’re leaving with pride.
“And when we close our doors, we look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate right across the UK.”
