The work in Porters Avenue, scheduled for five hours on September 28, will require a temporary traffic management order.
The order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.
However, the current works are expected to be completed in one day, between 8am and 1pm.
The closure will affect the south-east side of Porters Avenue from its junction with Wood Lane to its junction with Parsloes Avenue.
It will also affect the section from Parsloes Avenue to a point 22.5 metres north-east of its junction with Haskard Road.
