A planning application was submitted by Ricky Mann of Manns Self Storage Containers Ltd in December last year to change the use of a waste management facility at the Old Bus Depot in Perry Road, Dagenham to become a self-storage facility.
The proposal included the demolition of buildings on the site and the installation of 510 shipping containers for storage but has since been withdrawn with no further explanation.
A decision on the proposal had been expected to be made by Barking and Dagenham Council on Tuesday, March 18.

Additional planning documents were submitted on February 5 when the application was validated by the council.
The development site had been cleared and was vacant, according to planning documents.
The document said: “The provision of a self-storage facility meets a current demand for such facilities and will not require significant infrastructure redevelopment.”
The site would have required investment to provide the containers, according to the documents, which would have be determined by demand and would be added incrementally as the business developed.
According to the design and access statement, the facility would have created eight jobs.
