The incident happened in Parry Place around 1.30pm on March 27, near the main road and Woolwich station and surrounded by open businesses.
Officers and paramedics attended and a man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed today (April 2) that his condition has improved and his life is no longer in danger.
A crime scene remained in place at the junction of Spray Street and Parry Place following the stabbing.
Nearby shop owner Chinyere Iwunna said at the time: “It’s a very big shock to everybody. We have not had something like this for a long time.
“There are lots of police. They closed the road and asked us to go.”
She said the police came into her shop and told her she would have to close due to the incident on the street outside.
No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.
