Photos obtained by the News Shopper show a council parking officer’s vehicle parked on yellow zigzag markings outside Westgate Primary School on Summerhill Road.
The incident reportedly happened shortly before 12pm on Saturday (October 25), outside Westgate Primary School on Summerhill Road.
A resident said they felt it was “one rule for officers and another for drivers”.
However, Dartford Council says the officer was acting within the rules.
Dartford Council confirmed that parking officers are allowed to park in restricted spots while doing their job.
Additionally, the school zigzag lines at that location are only in force Monday to Friday between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm and 4pm.
The Dartford Council spokesperson added: “Civil Enforcement Officers hold a valid dispensation that permits them to park on certain restrictions when necessary to perform their duties.
“The school zig zag parking restriction at this location is in force from Monday to Friday 8am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 4pm.
“As the officer was in the process of issuing a Penalty Charge Notice on Saturday 25th October, the parking location is authorised as detailed on the signage.”
