Nothing could dampen their spirits at Park Road Leisure Centre, despite overcast weather, as their families had a free day of activities including swinging hoops with their hips that was all the rage back in the early 1960s.
The children also swam in the lido and the under-eights got to try the now-repaired training pool for free.
It came after a programme of repairs in the summer, such as fixing a major leak when an estimated 10,000 litres of water were being lost every day from the teaching pool, which had to be closed for eight weeks.
The promotion day also included soft play as well as adults’ meditation and relaxing.
Similar open days were held in Tottenham last month at New River and Tottenham Green leisure centres.
