Palms Hotel, in Southend Arterial Road, was issued the notice by Havering Council on February 20.
According to the council, the hotel had breached its conditional approval linked to a side and front extension that was granted in May 2024.
One of the hotel’s directors, Suresh Konduru, previously confirmed to this paper that they had been ordered to stop works on the site, a council instruction they passed on to “all contractors”.
In a new update from the hotel this week, Mr Konduru told the Recorder :”Our architects have responded to the notice received within the first few days and we have been in touch and providing the information requested.”
The latest work to the hotel comes as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment of the 1971 venue.
Details in the enforcement notice claim the hotel failed “to provide details and discharge the requirements” of landscaping that was one of the conditions of the approval.
The council’s terms also stated that “no above ground works shall take place” linked to the extensions in terms of landscaping and planting schemes, which still required approval.
The plans submitted as part of the development were called “insufficient” to allow planning officers to “judge the appropriateness” of it.
At the time of the enforcement notice being issued, Mr Konduru confirmed that the hotel has been “in direct communication with the relevant officers to ensure our forthcoming submission aligns with all stipulated requirements, and seek their guidance and help on these matters further (where required)”.

He added that Palms is “committed” to resolving the issue with “full compliance with all planning conditions”.
