The Palms Hotel in Southend Arterial Road has applied to Havering Council seeking planning permission for the proposal.
It is the latest news from the hotel, which recently announced the launch of a new restaurant Boka on its premises from as early as next month.
In recent months, architects and directors of the hotel have been working with the council to resolve an enforcement notice issued in connection to an extension being built to the venue.
According to documents on the council’s planning portal, the most recent application is for “part retrospective permission for extension to side and front canopies and new porch entrance to side.”
Drawings submitted by The Palms Hotel have detailed the vision for the site, with a canopy suggested to match with the existing canopy on part of the hotel.
The new canopy has been sketched in plans to the front of the hotel, wrapping round to the right-hand side.

This is understood to be intended to provide a “sheltered walkway” for visitors.
If approved, a new porch could also be built to the right of the hotel’s entrance, though it is currently unclear what space it would provide access to.
A decision is set to be made by Havering Council by June 9.
