To host the celebrations, Orpington High Street is set to be closed for 15 hours, between Station Road and Homefield Rise, from 7am to 10pm.
The closure will allow the “Orpington Christmas Lights and Street Market” to take place safely.
Bromley Council announced the closure in a public notice, assuring residents and visitors that pedestrian access to premises along or adjacent to the road will remain unaffected wherever possible.
The notice said that the prohibitions will only be implemented “during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.”
Access to properties will be maintained as far as practicable from either side of the closure.
Emergency access and egress will be maintained at all times.
The notice said: “NOTHING in this Order shall prevent pedestrian access at any time to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the Order relates, or to any other premises which are accessible from such a road.
“ACCESS to properties will be maintained as far as is practicable from either side of the closure as appropriate.
“Emergency access and egress will be maintained at all times.”
Queries about the road closure can be directed to the council’s environmental services department (traffic section) on 020 8313 4543.
