Police were called after a man was hit by a car on the Bermondsey section of the A2 at around 7am today (November 21).
Officers arrived with paramedics who treated a 34-year-old man.
Despite their attempts to save him, he died at the scene.

The suspected driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
An investigation is underway with a large police cordon in place on Old Kent Road near Dunton Road.
Forensic officers are on the scene.
Drivers are being urged by TfL to find an alternative route due to heavy traffic in the surrounding area.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Friday, 21 November at 06:55hrs police were called to the Old Kent Road, SE1 following reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian.
“Met officers attended alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service who treated a 34-year-old man at the scene.
“Sadly, despite their best efforts he died at the scene.
“His next of kin has been informed, they are currently being supported by specialist officers.
“An investigation has been launched into the circumstances and the driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
“If you have any information, dash-cam footage or video footage then please contact police on 101 stating CAD1109/21Nov.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.57am today (21 November) to reports of a road traffic collision in Old Kent Road, Bermondsey.
“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes.
“Sadly despite attempts to save his life, a man died at the scene.”
