The incident happened after a failed phone snatching on a Jubilee line train between Canning Town and North Greenwich stations on February 19.
A man tried to grab the victim’s phone just after midnight but failed, and the victim confronted him.
The victim was cut with a sharp object leaving him with deep slashes to his face.
Officers want to talk to the men in the pictures as they think they could help with the investigation.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Anyone who recognises either of them is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 468 of 20 February.
